Surgery
of the Eyelids
Upper
Eyelids
The eyes are the
focal point of
the face, and
often show the
first signs of
aging. This is
usually manifested
as excessive skin
hanging over the
eyelid and sometimes
the eyelashes
as well. As a
result, the eyes
look smaller and
tired-appearing.
Upper
eyelid blepharoplasty
surgery can correct
these undesirable
changes. The extra
skin of the upper
eyelid is carefully
removed, and the
underlying muscle
and fat is contoured
to shape the eyelid.
The incision line
is concealed in
the crease of
the upper lid.
The
postoperative
recovery for upper
eyelid surgery
is approximately
one week. The
small sutures
are removed at
that time, and
most bruising
and swelling has
subsided. Makeup
can be reapplied
shortly after
your one week
follow-up visit.
The
result is vibrant,
youthful and brighter
eyes. Because
there is minimal
pain and swelling
with consistently
favorable results,
this is the most
common cosmetic
procedure performed.
